Hammerdins do use Mana, but it isn't worth investing Stat Points into Energy, so ignore this stat completely.
Energy - Energy determines Mana total and Mana recovery. This is where you'll be investing all points after reaching necessary Strength and Dexterity requirements for items. 
Vitality - Vitality determines Health total, Stamina total, and Stamina recovery. The Paladin Skill Holy Shield also increases your Block Chance, so keep that in mind. While the attack rating isn't that important, definitely try to reach 75% Block Value, if possible. Dexterity - Dexterity determines Block chance and attack rating. The melee damage isn't too important for this type of build, so really just focus on getting enough Strength to equip the best gear possible. Strength - Strength determines what type of gear your Paladin can wear, as well as how much melee damage you do. Choosing this Weapon/Shield combo over the Wizardspike and Spirit Shield will be quite expensive and really only recommended for very late game focus. When focusing more on a damage focused build, you'll also want to pick up a Heart of the Oak Runeword Flail and a Herald of Zakarum Shield. Combined with a Spirit Runeword Shield, a Hammerdin can reach 75% Faster Cast Rate very easily. In searching for Faster Cast Rate, items like Wizardspike becomes extremely valuable, with 50% Faster Cast Rate. As such, the build can get expensive when trying to min-max your equipment.Ī Hammerdin's most desired stat from gear is Faster Cast Rate, which basically means more Hammers flying (more damage). 
One of the biggest issues with the build is how popular it is, causing many key items in the end game build to become more and more valuable. For this reason, Hammerdin can be a sufficient "Season Starter" focusing on Magic Find and budget items to get by. It is possible to build a Hammerdin with inexpensive equipment for end game or even specialize in Magic Find, which will increase the quality of items that drop. The Build's primary synergy comes from high movement speed and high damage output, which leads to very fast clear potential, something which is sought after for end game content.
